Steven L. Brown and Douglas A. Gessell both came from insurance defense law firms.  Having been on the defense side of litigation, they wanted to create a law firm representing individuals and families with serious personal injuries and challenges and needing real help.

They decided on a location that was central to California and the San Joaquin Valley. Stockton allowed them to provide representation to a broad range of clients. Mr. Gessell and Mr. Brown are both bilingual, with Mr. Gessell being commissioned as a consulting attorney with the Mexican Consulate in Sacramento. 

Both bring a wealth of experience in the areas of medical malpractice and personal injury cases. The firm started as two partners and one secretary and has grown into a staff of four.  Both Mr. Brown and Mr. Gessell came from larger firms, and they envisioned a personal form of representation from the start of a case to its completion.  Your attorneys at Brown & Gessell are the same attorneys that will manage and direct your case from inception to resolution.

Brown & Gessell began in 2005.  Steven Brown and Douglas Gessell both came from larger firms. They wanted to create a firm that was personal and focused on each client.  They combined the good from the larger law firm experience and the client-focused approach of a smaller firm.  They have handled thousands of cases and taken many to trial.  They cooperatively work on all cases all the way to settlement or trial.  They have more than fifty years of combined personal injury experience.
